Clyde “Allen” Rufer, of Lansing, Ohio, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on July 7, 2019. He is the son of the late Clyde Allen Rufer, Sr. and the late Marjorie Amelia Smith Rufer. He was born on January 1, 1947 in East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry, Ohio. Mr. Rufer was a 1965 graduate of Bellaire High School and received his Bachelor of Nursing in 1988 from Franciscan University. He was a retiree of Healthways of Pittsburgh.
On June 26, 1971 he married Dorothy Mae Butler, who survives. He was a devoted brother to Charles (Kathy) Rufer and brother-in-law to the late George Butler and Virginia Butler. He was blessed with his children, George in 1972 and Jessica in 1977 and found great joy in helping them with their extracurricular activities. He gained two more children when George (Adaira) and Jessica (Hank) married. His family was completed when granddaughter and apple of his eye, Alana, was born in 1998. He was excited about becoming a great grandfather soon. His great grandchildren will have instead a forever guardian angel.
He most enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and his chocolate lab, CoCo. One of his favorite past times was reminiscing with his children, nieces, and nephews, Lisa (Craig) Campbell, Brandi (John) Farmer, and Brady (Gabriella) Butler, as well as surrogate nieces and nephews, Erma (Tim) Zann, Marcey (Dan) Wetzel, Matt (Kelli) Charlton, and Michelle (Rick) Hill. He relished in the lifetime friendships he held with the late Al Charlton and Linda Charlton, Ron and Becky Brown, and Helen Higgins. He was a fisherman, an amateur radio operator (KB8SJI), and expert Euchre player.
The Riverview Bible Church in Bellaire, Ohio held a special place in his heart. He received a certificate of appreciation in 2019 for his service as reporting secretary and choir member. He and his wife took great pleasure teaching Sunday School to the children of the church. He was very proud to be affiliated with such noble and loving people.
