Joseph C. Sokolowski, 83, of Colerain, OH died January 3, 2019 at Wheeling Hospital. He was born February 22, 1935, in Wheeling, WV, a son of the late Joseph and Nellie (Shinko) Sokolowski. Joseph was retired from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel where he was a brick mason. He was known for his master brick-laying skills. He was President of the St. Clairsville R/C Flyers for thirteen years, was a Little League Baseball Coach for fourteen years where he also served as a Manager, and Head Commissioner. In 1973 he took his team to the state finals. Joseph was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wolfhurst. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William Sokolowski Sr., and sister-in-law, Kitty Sokolowski. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-three years, Clarima (Shrader) Sokolowski of Colerain; children, Marilynn (Brian) Coyne of Sunset Heights, Joseph “J.R.” (Diane Sherrets) Sokolowski of Mt. Pleasant, Ken (Patti) Sokolowski of Palmerton, PA, Kevin (Sue) Sokolowski of Clinton, OH; grandson, Colin Reece Sokolowski; brother, Richard Sokolowski of St. Clairsville; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Sokolowski of Wolfhurst, OH. Friends will be received Sunday, January 6, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Rd. Bridgeport, OH 43912. A wake vigil will be held at 6pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, January 7th at 10am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wolfhurst with Fr. John Mucha serving as celebrant. Interment to follow at Holly Memorial Gardens.
