LTC (Ret) Ronald L. Salvador

  LTC (Ret)  Ronald Louis Salvador, 85, of Belmont, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 25, 2018. He was born in Wheeling, WV on Dec 21, 1932 to the late Louis T. And Mary K. Salvador. He graduated from Linsly Military Institute in 1950 and the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1954. After graduation, he was commissioned as an officer in the United States Army.

  In 1954, Ron married Georgianna Farmer of Wellsburg WV, his best friend and bride of 55 years.  Ron’s active duty military career spanned 21 years of dedicated service. After retirement from the military, Ron returned to the Ohio Valley where he served as Commandant of Cadets and Headmaster at his alma mater, Linsly.  He completed his professional career as the general manager at Valley Distributors in Dillonvale, the business founded by his father in 1943. He retired in 1990, but remained very active in multiple veterans' organizations supporting and honoring local veterans.

  Through his entire adult life Ron adhered to the principles of honor, integrity and character. Those traits were his legacy to his family in hopes that they would always choose the “Harder Right”.  Ron is survived by two daughters, Debra (Dan) Street of Fairfax, VA and Diane (Don) Hutchison of Brilliant, OH; two sons, Ronald Jr (Nancy) of Doylestown, PA and Christopher (Kim) of Delaware, OH; a brother, Louis A Salvador of Pittsburgh, PA., six granddaughters and six grandsons; and eight great grandchildren.

  Friends will be received at the Wilson Funeral Home at 920 National Road in Brookside on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 from 4-8 pm and then on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm.  Services will be held on Friday at 10 am with Rev. John Jackson officiating followed by interment in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove. Full military graveside honors will be offered by the Belmont County Veterans Association.
