Richard S. Barath

Richard S. Barath, 69, of Smithfield, formerly of Barton, OH died Thursday, August 22, 2019 at Wheeling Medical Park following a brief illness. 

He was born September 26, 1949 in Martins Ferry, OH, a son of the late Steven Barath and Irene Vargas Barath.

Rich formerly worked at Shadyside Stamping and was retired from Buckeye Local Maintenance Department.  He was a proud Veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during the Vietnam Era.  He was also a member of the Indian Club in Tiltonsville, The Navy Blue and Gold, the N.R.A., and a former member of the Barton Fire Department.  Rich faithfully attended the Piney Fork Presbyterian Church.

Rich is survived by his wife, Terri (Thrash) Barath of Smithfield; his sons, Aaron Barath of Barton, Ben (Holly) Barath of Hilliard; step-daughters, Kristin (Rocky) Stephenson of Milford, MI, and Dana (Dom) Anzevino of Brunswick, OH; grandchildren, Emily Barath, Erich and Parker Stephenson, Lexie, Bella, and Nico Anzevino; sisters, Janice Barath of Barton, Karen (John) Ratka of St. Clairsville; nephew and niece Zack (Liana) Ratka and Aimee Ratka; and his fur-baby Otis.

Family and friends will be received Sunday, August 25th, 2019 from 12p.m. until 7p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Rd. Bridgeport, OH.  Funeral services will be held Monday, August 26th at Piney Fork Presbyterian Church, Cty Rd. 11, Dillonvale, OH at 11a.m. with Pastor Jim Taylor officiating.  Interment to follow Holly Memorial Gardens.  Military Honors by the Belmont County Veterans Association.
