Stanley J. Simoncic

 Stanley J. Simoncic, 90, of Bridgeport, OH died November 2, 2018 at his home. He was born January 27, 1928, in Bridgeport, OH, a son of the late Joseph and Josephine (Prhne) Simoncic. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Bridgeport. Stanley was a former Belmont County Deputy Sherriff, a Chief Deputy Recorder and served as Belmont County Recorder from January 1976 through December 1996. He was a member of the Belmont County Democrat Central and Executive Committee since 1960 and served as the party secretary, vice Chairman and chairman. He was a board member of the Belmont County Society for Crippled Children and Adults and a Member of the former Bridgeport Eagles. He served in the United States Marine Corp. Stanley was known by everyone as a strong and loyal fan of Notre Dame Football.

Stanley is survived by his sister, Irene Fornal of Bridgeport and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marcella (Ball) Simoncic; two daughters, Debra Ann and Rebecca Jo Simoncic; two brothers, Joseph and John Simoncic; four sisters, Johanna (Honey) Strauss, Christine Parrish, Sophie Blazek and Mary Melchiori.

Friends will be received at Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Brookside on Tuesday from 11till time of service at 2 pm, with Msgr. George Coyne officiating, interment to follow at Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville. Full military honors will be conducted by the Belmont County Veterans Association. A special thanks to all of Stanley’s caregivers.
