Stanley and Verena immigrated from Germany in 1949 after his discharge from military service. He had served in WW II in the Polish Guard Unit employed by the American 7th Army Occupation Forces in Germany.
Stanley was a retiree of Ormet Corporation, Hannibal, Ohio. He was a member of the local Polish National Alliance (PNA), serving as president for many years, on the PNA Council, and as a national delegate to the Polish American Political Club. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, sports, and, above all, gardening. Many will remember his enormous sunflowers and super-sized vegetables, which he shared with so many. His most enjoyable activity was his 24 years of participation in Cardiac Rehab at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry, Ohio. There he was the beloved “flower man” who planted and nourished a beautiful flower garden on the premises every summer, earning him photo features in the hospital magazine and interviews with the Times Leader newspaper. The friendly flower man will be greatly missed by his family, friends and community.
