Stephania Ann (Mitchell) Tesniarz, of Colerain, died Thursday June 13, 2019 at Alter Care of Adena. She was born November 15, 1920 on Henderson Hill in Maynard, Ohio, a daughter of the late Anthony and Stella (Dobocz) Mitchell, and her step-father Kostek Klenowski.
She worked at the Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Martins Ferry plant as a set line welder for bomb shell racks, and time keeper during WWII. She was a store clerk for Briggs Brothers Department Store, worked at Imperial Display where she taught knitting, jewelry making, crocheting, and sewing. She also made drapes for homes.
Stephania was a member of the Martins Ferry Football Moms in 1964, the North School PTA, St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church since 1964 where she was a member and held many offices in the CWC. She worked with the group to hand wash all the organ pipes for restoration, and raised money to restore and install the organ. For 12 years she did a seasonal fundraiser for the Colerain Vol. Fire Co. making over 150 grave blankets for Christmas Season. She enjoyed Crocheting, knitting, sewing and jewelry making.
In addition to her parents and stepfather, she was preceded in death by her loving husband Zygmunt George Tesniarz Sr.an infant son Gary Lynn; Sisters Pauline Mitchell, Mary Orban, Helen Orban; and Brothers William, Stephen, Adam, and Anthony Mitchell.
Stephania is survived by sons Zygmunt (Donna) Tesniarz Jr. of Colerain, and Gregory (Barbara) Tesniarz of Uniontown, Ohio
Grandsons David (Lindsay) Tesniarz of Huntersville, NC, and Jonathan (Abigail) Tesniarz, a great-grandson Ethan of Bonita Springs FL, also several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Wilson Funeral Home 920 National Road Brookside on Monday June 17, 2019 from 2-8 pm, with wake service at 7:50 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 am at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church Colerain, with Fr. Tim McGuire as Celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery Martins Ferry. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to either St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church PO Box 38 Colerain, OH 43916 or Valley Hospice 10686 St. Rt. 150 Rayland, Ohio 43943.
