CAMPBELL, VERDA LOUISE (STINARD)
85, of Dillonvale, Ohio passed peacefully the morning of December 6th, 2019. Born November 20, 1934, at home in Cherry Valley, Hopedale, Harrison County, Ohio to Loman & Esta Stinard, predeceased by her parents and her loving Husband, Ronald T. Campbell. Verda was a 1952 graduate of Dillonvale High School. She is survived by Dennis (Suzanne), and Joel (Beth) Campbell, her sisters, Jeanette Ogden and Dora ( Stacey) Horvat, grandchildren, Tamara Allison Miller (Craig), William Andrew Campbell, Kathryn Campbell (Joseph) Olney, great grandchildren, Hunter Campbell, MacKenzie Marie, and Grayson Wentworth Miller, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was a career federal employee recruited in 1952 by the FBI and rising through management positions with the Department of the Army in Washington, D.C., Heidelberg, Germany, Atlanta, Georgia, White Sands, New Mexico, and Ft. Bliss, Texas.
Verda was an avid and accomplished seamstress, with skills in pattern design, sewing, crochet, knitting and embroidery. From her own resources, she created numerous items for charity and the needy. A breast cancer survivor herself, she was the designer and sewed hundreds of heart shaped comfort pillow for post-operative breast cancer patients. She also enjoyed the hobby of writing poems distributed to family and friends.
Visitation will be held at Wilson Funeral Home in Dillonvale, Ohio on Tuesday, December 10th from 2pm until 5pm with services at 5pm with Reverend Byron McElroy officiating.
The family will also receive friends from 10-11, Friday, December 13, 2019, at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home, Hwy 150 in Hoover. Service will follow at 11:00 in the chapel. Interment will be in the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo.
