A. Alan Russell, 68, of Bethesda, Ohio passed away Monday, December 5, 2011 at his home, with his family close by. He was born August 12, 1943 in Warren, Ohio, son of the late Samuel Arthur Russell and Mildred Jeanette Travis Russell.
Alan, a life resident of Bethesda, Ohio graduated from Union Local High School in 1961 and received a Bachelor of Science in Education degree from Ohio University in 1972. He worked for A.E. Stilson Company as a surveyor. He was the previous proprietor of Field and Stream Sporting Goods in Barnesville and Russell Building Company in Bethesda.
Alan was a lifetime member of the NRA, a member of the Bethesda Farmers and Sportsman Club, and the Ohio Gun Collectors Association.
Alan, an avid outdoors man, loved hunting, fishing, and watching wildlife. He was also a devoted fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes. Mr. Russell shared a love of the outdoors and old-time music with his family and many friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Dean Russell; and nephews, Joseph Nelson and Matthew Hart.
Alan is survived by his wife, Brenda (Jarrett) Russell of 46 years; daughter, Erin Russell-Story (Dan Story); son, Scot Russell; one niece; and three nephews.
Family and friends may call, Saturday from 11 a.m. until time of service, 12 p.m., Kelly-Kemp-Braido Funeral Home, 322 North Main Street, Bethesda, Ohio.
