Obituary

Agnes Zannis Salvador, a resident of Asbury Heights, Pittsburgh, PA, and formerly of Morgantown, WV and of Greensburg, Pleasant Hills, and Rockwood, PA, passed from this life on April 1, 2011 at the age of 75. Mrs. Salvador was born on September 7, 1935, in Yorkville, Ohio, to the late Samuel T. Zannis and Antoinette Palcic Zannis. Her father was an employee of Wheeling Steel Corporation at its Yorkville works and her mother was an employee of Cleveland Graphite Bronze in Bridgeport, OH. Agnes attended elementary and high schools in Yorkville, graduating from Yorkville High in 1953. She was active in many school activities, including cheerleading, Student Theater, glee club, and school dance organization and sponsorship. She attended the University of Virginia and the University of Pittsburgh at its Oakland and Greensburg, PA, campuses, completing two years toward a Bachelor of Arts degree. Her life-long interests included family activities, nutrition and natural foods, cooking, literature, psychology, art, music, and politics. Her life's passion was to live an authentic life of quality in all endeavors. She was a loving mother, wife, grandmother, sister, and aunt, and she was a kind, generous, and loving person who always strived to do her best, to serve others, and to appreciate the wonders of the world around her. Agnes has been a member of the Greek Orthodox Church, the Presbyterian Church, and the Unitarian-Universalist Church. Mrs. Salvador is survived by her husband, Louis A. Salvador, also of Asbury Heights; by her two sons and their spouses, David Louis Salvador and Tina Russo Salvador of Tampa, FL and Stephan Samuel Salvador and Jan MacGregor Salvador of Thornburg, PA; by her grandchildren, Christina Marie Salvador and Nicholas David Salvador of Greensburg, PA; by her sister, Evangeline Zannis Popkie of Yorkville, OH, by nieces and nephews Debra and Steven King and their children of Morgantown, WV, Darlene Taylor of St. Clairsville, OH, Norman and Michelle Popkie Jr. of Morgantown, WV, Leigh Ann and George Kademenos and sons of Columbus, OH and Jamie and Matthew Sokos and sons of Wheeling, WV; by her brother-in-law, Lt. Col. Ronald L. Salvador of Belmont, OH, and family; and by uncle Kalvin Kreuger of Martins Ferry, OH and cousin Roseanne Kreuger of Houston, Texas. In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by sister Sylvia Zannis Arslain and brother-in-law James Arslain of Wheeling, WV, brother-in-law Norman Popkie, aunt and uncle Bernice Palcic Kreuger and John Palcic, nephew Jim Kreuger, and sister-in-law Georgeanna Farmer Salvador of St. Clairsville, OH. The family invites friends and relatives to the Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Road, Bridgeport, OH where visitation will be held on Sunday from 12:30 �" 3:30 and 5:00 �" 8:00 p.m. April 3, 2011, where services will be held on Monday April 4, beginning at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Interment will be at Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either: Alzheimer's Association 225 N.
