Obituary

Albert Marchio, 94, of N. 9th St., Martins Ferry, OH died Tuesday, Apr. 20, 2010 at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry. He was born June 30, 1915 in Martins Ferry a son of the late Francesco and Mariangela (Riccelli) Marchio. He began his career as a shoe repairman and retired from the Yorkville Plant of Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel. Albert was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Italian American Club, and American Legion Post #38, all of Martins Ferry, and the former V.F.W. Post #3613 and Eagles Aerie #995. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army, WW II. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Estella A. (Martinella) Marchio, three brothers Erminio, Ralph, and Joe Marchio, and two sisters Mary Mancuso and Josephine DeFilippis. Surviving are several nieces and nephews including Mary Jane (Rick) Blake, and Cindy (Tom) Tribett all of McMechen, WV, Betty (Virgil) Wright and Gloria (Dick) Berher all of Rockville, MD, and Joseph DeFilippi of Weirton, WV, and a sister-in-law Angela DiStefano. Friends will be received Thursday 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Friday, Apr. 23, 2010 at 9:00 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Martins Ferry with Rev. Thomas A. Magary officiating . Entombment follows in Mt. Calvary Mausoleum, Bellaire, OH. Rosary devotions will be recited Thursday at 3:00pm followed by Wake services at 8:00 pm both in the funeral home.
