Alex Vargo, Sr., 85, of Colerain, OH, died Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at Harrison Community Hospital, Cadiz, OH. He was born March 11, 1929 in Harrisburg, PA a son of the late Louis and Lidia (Nagy) Vargo. Alex was an auto mechanic with the former Westlake Chevrolet and retired from Staffilino Chevrolet both of Martins Ferry and was owner of Alex's Mower Shop, Colerain Pike. He was a member of Colerain Presbyterian Church, honorary member of Colerain Fire Department, charter member of Colerain Ruritan and Muskie Club of Hopedale Charter #18 and a veteran of the U.S. Army, Korean War. In addition to his parents Alex was preceded in death by his wife, Ruthetta Ann (Veloski) Vargo, brothers; Joseph and Charles Vargo and sisters; Ann, Rose, and Mary. Surviving are his children; Alex (Barbara) Vargo, Jr. of Allentown, PA Kim (Randy) Norris of Colerain, OH and Nancy Stephens of Eastlake, OH, a brother, Louis Vargo of Fowler, OH, grandchildren; Trent and Lydia Stephens, Jeremiah (Dena) Kinsey, Alissa (Clayton) Cwalinski, Dawn Vargo Brown, Wendy Carter, and Alexis (John) Edmonds, great grandchildren; Kerrigan, Blake, Rachael, Zooey, Mia and Hollis and his companion Shirley Colvin. Family and friends will be received at Heslop Funeral Home, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, OH, Friday 2-8 pm and Saturday, February 14, 2015 from 10 am until time of services at 11:00 am at Colerain Presbyterian Church with Pastor Joe Ellis officiating.
