Alice M. (Huml) Moffit, 80, of Wayne L. Hays Towers, Martins Ferry, OH passed away peacefully Thursday, Jan. 28, 2010 surrounded by her family at Ohio Valley Medical Center, Wheeling, WV. She was born Jan. 5, 1930 in Cleveland, OH a daughter of the late Josephine (Huml) Clary. She was a member of the Senior Citizens Center, Martins Ferry, OH. In addition to her mother she was preceded in death by her step-father Harry Clary, first husband Dewey B. Sturgell, her second husband Charles O. Moffit, three daughters Brenda Beckett and Lorraine Sturgell, and an infant daughter, two great grandchildren Shelby Beckett and Scotty Howells, and a brother Willard Clary. Surviving are two sons Charles Moffit, Jr. of Martins Ferry and John Moffit of Bridgeport, OH, four daughters Rev. Theresa (Steve) Bobot of Belmont, OH, Shirley (Lonnie Caraway) Davis of Martins Ferry, Sandy (Johnny) Waugh of St. Clairsville, OH, and Tammy (Gene Hunt) Moffit of Sarasota, FL, a step-sister Rosie Scott of Belle Valley, OH, thirteen grandchildren, and twenty-three great grandchildren. Alice was anxiously awaiting the birth of her first great great grandchild to be born in April. Friends will be received Sunday 12-3 & 6-8 pm at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH where services will be held Monday, Feb.1, 2010 at 11:00 am with Rev. Theresa Bobot and Stefan J. Bobot, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Olive Branch Cemetery, Harrisville, OH.
