Alice Eleanor Pekula, 91 of Barnesville formerly of Blaine, died Sunday November 16, 2014 at Barnesville Health Care Center Barnesville. She was born October 22, 1923 in Bridgeport, a daughter of the late Albert and Anna (Kubacki) Surofke. She was a retired employee of the Sears Co, a former Nurses Aid for the Martins Ferry Hospital, a volunteer for Heartland-Lansing Nursing Home, and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church Wolfhurst. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by husband Edwin, and her siblings Frank, Joseph, and Stanley Surofke, Mary Wood, Louise Trybuski, Catherine Spano, Matilda Dameron, Josephine Smith, Ann Ledegerber, and a nephew Paul Joseph Leonard. Alice is survived by her children Edwin (Rosemary) Pekula Jr. of Colerain, Norma (Richard) Rickrode of Moundsville, Toni (Jim) Timko of St. Clairsville, and Gloria (Tom) Pramik of Bellaire, also nine grandchildren, Scott and Shawn Rickrode, Ryan Rubeis, Krista Timko, Alicia Burns, Jen Tyrrell, Paige and Shana Pramik, and Gina and Andrew Pekula, nine great grandchildren, Kayla Mansfield, Shawn Rickrode Jr. Meadow Gerevics, MaKenzie Rubeis, Logan Cochran, Morgan and Tate Eddy, Cruz and Jude Burns, and a great great grandson Brooks Mansfield. Friends will be received at the Wilson Funeral Home 920 National Road Brookside on Wednesday November 19, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 at St. Joseph Catholic Church Wolfhurst with Fr. John Mucha as celebrant, interment in Holly Memorial Gardens Pleasant Grove. The family would like to thank the Barnesville Health Care Center for the care of their mother. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Barnesville Health Care Handicap Door Fund, 400 Carrie Ave. Barnesville, Ohio 43713.
