Alvin L. Weidetz, Sr., of Hilliard, OH, formerly of Martins Ferry, OH, died Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Darby Glen Nursing and Rehabilitation of Hilliard. He was born September 24, 1919 in Martins Ferry a son of the late Carl J. Weidetz and Pearl E. (Bruney) Weidetz Love.

Al along with his wife, Rose, owned RAW Trucking that contracted with Interstate Trucking Co., Transamerica Trucking Co. and Ohio Truck Service to provide his services over the years. He was a founding member of the Martins Ferry Yacht Club and a member of the Mountaineer Scuba Divers. Al was a veteran of the U.S. Army WWII.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Rose A. (Hoffman) Weidetz, his daughter, Kathryn A. Gibson, brother, Carl Weidetz and sister, Sally Love.

Surviving are his children; Alvin L. (Rosario) Weidetz, Jr. of San Antonio, TX, Carolyn (David) Todd of Hilliard, OH and Linda Schultz of Martins Ferry, grandchildren; Alvania (Leif) Thompson, Michelle (Craig) Bryant, Trey (Stacey) Weidetz, III, Erik (Marnie) Schultz, Jennifer Schultz and David (Jeff Chaykowski) Todd, III, eleven great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

Friends will be received Saturday, December 2, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. until time of the funeral service at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. William O. Webster officiating.
