Anna C.(Blecha) Funari, 96, formerly of Catawba St., Martins Ferry, OH, died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010 at Forest Hills Retirement Community, St. Clairsville, OH. She was born November 3, 1913 in Wolfhurst, OH a daughter of the late James and Louise (Peseck) Blecha. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Martins Ferry, OH. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Premo R. Funari, a brother Joseph Blecha, two sisters Mary Latimer and Amelia Crosby and her son-in-law Edward P. Schmidt. Surviving are her daughter Evelyn J. Schmidt of St. Clairsville, OH, four granddaughters Elisa (Dean) Chmel of Wheeling, WV, Ellen (Mark) Meaden and Dr. Erica Schmidt both of Melbourne, Australia and Elizabeth (Jeff) Conrad of Commerce Twp., MI and ten great grandchildren. Family and friends will be received Sunday 12-3 pm and 6-8 pm at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Monday, Jan. 25, 2010 at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Martins Ferry, OH with Rev. Thomas A. Magary officiating. Burial follows in Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry. Rosary Devotions will be recited Sunday at 3:00 pm followed by Wake Services at 7:30 pm both in the funeral home. Memorial contribution may be made to St. Mary's Catholic School Adopt a Child Fund or St. Mary's Catholic Church General Fund, c/o 20 N. 4th St., Martins Ferry, OH 43935.
