Anthony "Tony" DeFranco, 82, of Colerain Pike, Martins Ferry, OH died Thurs., Oct. 26, 2006 at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry, OH. He was born Jun. 12, 1924 in Martins Ferry a son of the late Michael A. and Mary A. DeFranco. He was retired from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Martins Ferry Plant and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, American Legion Post 38, both of Martins Ferry and a veteran of the U.S. Army, WW II. Tony was an avid golfer and bowler up until the time of his death. He was known fondly as "Pap" to his two granddaughters and many of their friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Patrick DeFranco. Surviving are his wife Angela (Fabian) DeFranco, their daughter Anita (Jack) Timko of Martins Ferry, two granddaughters Amanda and Andrea Timko, his two daughters Donna (Neal) Chase of Wheeling, WV and Diane (Dave) Marocco of Pittsburgh, PA, and a brother Joseph (Clara) DeFranco of Martins Ferry. Friends will be received Sun. 12-4 & 6-9 PM at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Mon., Oct. 30, 2006 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Martins Ferry with Rev. Thomas Magary officiating. Burial follows at Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry, OH. In lieu of flowers memorial contribution may be made to the St. Mary's Central School, 24 N. Fourth St., Martins Ferry, OH 43935. Condolences to the family may be made by signing the guest book at the top of this page.
