Obituary

Anthony J. Mitchell, 80, of Grant Ave., Martins Ferry, OH died Tue., May 25, 2004 at Ohio Valley Medical Center, Wheeling, WV. He was born July 8, 1923 in Maynard, OH a son of the late Anthony J. Mitchell and Stella (Dobis) Mitchell Klenowski. He worked for the former Blaw-Knox Foundry and Wheeling Machine and retired as a skilled machinist from the former Picoma Industries of Martins Ferry. He was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church, Martins Ferry and Bellaire Chapter #117 D.A.V. Anthony was a veteran of the U.S. Army WWII and was a POW at the end of the war. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his step-father Kustek Klenowski, two brothers William and Stephen Mitchell, and three sisters Pauline Mitchell and Mary and Helen Orban. Surviving are three daughters Susan J. (Joseph) Sobota of Warwood, Mary M. (Max) Fowler and Robbin L. Mitchell all of Winder, GA, four sons Anthony J. Mitchell, Jr. of Franklin, NC, Kenneth L. (Darla) Mitchell of Martins Ferry, Mark D. (Cindi) Mitchell of Snellville, GA, and Jeffrey S. (Belinda) Mitchell of Cuyahoga Falls, OH, a brother Adam Mitchell of Colerain, a sister Stephania Anne Tesniarz of Colerain, sixteen grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Sun. 12-3 & 6-8 PM at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH where services will be held Mon., May 31, 2004 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Frank Fitch officiating. Burial follows in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove with full military honors by the Belmont Co. Council of the V.F.W.
