Anthony "Tony" James Parissi Sr., 95, of Mingo Junction, Ohio, died Thursday May 12, 2011 at Trinity East Hospice Center. He was born in Mingo Junction on December 10, 1915, a son of the late Romeo J. and Anna DeSantis Parissi. Anthony was a retired employee of Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel; a co-founding organizer of the Mingo Little League; a coach for the Indians Little League for many years; an avid gardener and a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Anthony Parissi Jr., five brothers: Francis and Romeo J. Parissi, Meade, James and William Parris; and two sisters: Catherine Lamberti and Mary DiLeonardo. Anthony is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, after being married at St. Agnes Church by Fr. Sullivan on February 26, 1938, Goldie Reidy Parissi; a son Robert Parissi of Fla., a daughter Anna Marie Stoddart of Mingo Junction; a sister Anna Parissi of Cadiz, Ohio, seven grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; and also several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Monday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Blaschalk-Wilson Funeral Home, 115 Union Avenue, Mingo Junction, where services will be held Tuesday May 17, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. James Dunfee, officiating. A vigil service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Monday. Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Steubenville.
