Archie L. "Bud" Gibbons, 88, of Barnesville, Ohio, died Friday, August 29, 2014 at Emerald Pointe Nursing and Rehab. He was born September 12, 1925 in Jerusalem, Ohio, son of the late Irvy M. Gibbons and Lettie E. Stills Gibbons. He was retired from Perkins Construction and also worked as a dairy farmer. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, older vintage trucks and cars, and especially pies and homemade bread. Archie was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters and six brothers. Archie is survived by his wife of 67 years, Viola (Stephen) Gibbons; daughters, Linda J. (Richard C.) Swallie, Cathy J. Leasure; son William E. (Bernice) Gibbons; sister, Janet Whiteley all of Barnesville, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and soon to be one great-great-grandchild. Honoring Archie's wishes, private funeral services will be conducted Tuesday. Reverend Gene Miller will be officiating. Interment will be at Ebenezer Cemetery.
