BARBARA JANE GORNICK

On August 31, 2021, Barbara Jane Gornick, 83, of Belmont, Ohio passed away peacefully, to be with the Lord.

She was born to the late Michael and Frances (Cheslock) Ogershok in Dorseyville, Pennsylvania on October 15, 1937.  Barb was also preceded by her husband, Sylvester Gornick, Jr. in 1993 and brothers, John and Michael Ogershok.

Barb's memory will be cherished always by those who survive; daughter, Victoria (Ted) Lockhart of Howard, Ohio; sons, Sylvester (Rhonda) Gornick, III of Irwin, Pennsylvania, Stanley (Janie) Gornick of Belmont, Ohio; Stephen (Sarah) Gornick of Garner, North Carolina; many treasured grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step- grandsons; brother-in-law, Sam Gornick; numerous sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Barb led a faithful life and served where she was led.  She was a member of Assumption Catholic Church, the Catholic Women's Club, and retired from Riesbeck's Food Market with 30 years of service. She enjoyed playing cards, board games and cooking meals for family and friends.   Barb was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and a loyal friend, touching many lives.  She enjoyed raising and playing with her cat companions, Lucky and Buddy.

Family and friends are welcome for visitation, Friday, September 3, 2021 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm, Patron Funeral Homes & Crematory Kelly Kemp Braido, 702 E. Main Street, Barnesville.  A Vigil Service will be held at 6:45.   A Mass of Christian burial will take place Saturday, September 4, 2021 at 10:00 am, with Father Dave Cornett presiding at Assumption Catholic Church, 306 W. Main Street, Barnesville.  Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lafferty.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Assumption Catholic Church.
