Beatrice I. (Baker) Laase, 83, of Garland, TX and formerly of Martins Ferry, OH, Clearwater, FL, and Canton, OH died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2008 at the Christian Care Center, Mesquite, TX. She was born June 13, 1924 in Martins Ferry the daughter of the late Clarence A. and Helen (Ramsey) Baker. She was a former member of the First U. Methodist Church of Martins Ferry and the Canton Baptist Temple. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years Charles A. "Abe" Laase, brother Marvin Baker, and step-son Ronald Laase. Surviving are two daughters Linda (Arthur) Gibbard of Wheat Ridge, CO and Barbara (Donald) Smith of Garland, TX, son Kirk S. (Ella) Laase of Dalton, OH, stepson Carl Laase of Massillon, OH, stepdaughter Jeanine Biebelhausen of Olmsted Falls, OH, two grandsons Andrew and Patrick Smith of Garland, TX, step-grandchildren John M. Clos and Judy M. (Clos) Holland, as well as numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. Family and friends will be received Saturday, Mar. 1, 2008 from 11 am until time of services at 1:00 pm with Rev. Van D. Fisher officiating at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry. Burial follows in Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry. The family wishes to thank the loving staff of Christian Care Center in Mesquite, TX for the excellent care she received while a resident at the Center.
