Bernie Robert Godaway Sr., 72, of Bridgeport, passed away on September 14, 2019.  He was born on October 25, 1946 in Martins Ferry the only son of Joseph and Antonia (Sikora) Godaway.  Bernie served his country in the United States Navy, retired in 2016 from Murray Energy and was a member of the Maynard PNA and Maynard Sportsman Clubs.

He is survived by his wife, Cecilia Godaway; children, Bernie Godaway Jr., Stacey (Robert) Fry, Sherry (Scott) Wiltshire and John (Monica) Young; two sisters, Carolyn (Dave) Parker and Barbara (Robert) Parish; 3 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

Bernie was preceded in death by his parents; a 2nd wife, Diane Godaway and an infant daughter, Marcy Godaway.

Friends may call Friday from 3-6 pm in the Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Rd., Brookside.  A memorial service will be held Friday at 6 pm in the funeral home with Pastor Jim Monogioudis officiating.  Military honors will be provided by the Belmont County Veterans Assoc.
