Bertha C. (Davis) Sells, 91, of Jeannette Ave., Martins Ferry, OH, went to be with the Lord and to reunite with her family members, who had passed on before, on Sunday, May 20, 2007 at East Ohio Regional Hospital Long Term Care Unit, Martins Ferry. She was born June 10, 1915 in Martins Ferry a daughter of the late John and Bertha C. (Rembach) Davis. She retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel where she worked during WWII and was a long time custodian at the former Mackey School. Bertha was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church of Martins Ferry where she was a founder of the Wednesday Bible Study, and author of a regular "Baking with Bertha" column, in the church's newsletter. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Omer B. "Brownie" Sells; a daughter Maxine O'Connell; a brother John Davis, and two sisters Mildred Thomas and Elizabeth Lawson. Surviving are a son Dr. Jack D. Sells, Sr. and his wife Cheryl Ann of Huntington, WV, a daughter Mary Kay Kohler of Martins Ferry, a sister Kathleen Tucker of Martins Ferry, seven grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. Friends will be received Tuesday 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at 11:00 AM at Grace Presbyterian Church, Martins Ferry with Rev. William O. Webster officiating. Burial follows in Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry. Elders of the church will hold services Tuesday at 7:00 PM in the Funeral Home.
