Bertha L. (Glass) "Mom Bert" Tolliver, 88, of Chattanooga, TN formerly of Martins Ferry, OH died Monday, July 28, 2014 at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry. She was born October 19, 1925 in Chattanooga, TN a daughter of the late Andrew and Ophelia (Hodge) Glass. She was retired from Peterson Nursing Home, Wheeling, WV. She was an assistant pastor of the Refuge Temple and pastor of the Tabernacle of Praise Church both of Bellaire, OH. Bertha was a long standing member of the Shiloh Temple, Martins Ferry and the Greater Emmanuel Apostolic, Chattanooga, TN. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by husband John W. Tolliver, sisters; Magnolia Howard and Ruth Eason, and brothers; Alborn Glass and Logan Hodge. Surviving are her daughter Neilda (Augustus) Pitts of Chattanooga, TN, 11 grandchildren; Joe (Lorraine) Tolliver, Orlando Tolliver, Eric Tolliver, Michael (Patricia) Tolliver, Vanessa (David) Lee, Veronica Pitts,Kenneth Pitts, Keith Pitts, Scott Pitts, Marcus Pitts and Valarie Pitts, 25 great grandchildren, 20 great great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews; Belinda Faye, Melodye, AL, Jr., John Young and Margaret Choice, and a host of family and friends, Erma Ruth Choice. Friends will be received on Friday, August 1, 2014 from 10:00 am until time of service at 12:00 pm at the Shiloh Temple Church where Pastor Tyrone Spencer officiate. Dr. Paul Smith will be officiating at the funeral. Burial follows in Greenwood Cemetery, Bellaire, OH. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family to help defray the cost of the funeral.
