Bertha L. Pickering, 84, of St. Clairsville, Ohio and formerly of Flushing, Ohio, died Friday, January 23, 2015 at East Ohio Regional Hospital. She was born July 3, 1930 in Boydsville, Ohio, daughter of the late John C. Gordon and Kate Tanks Gordon. A devoted and loving mother, grandmother, and sister, Bertha was a retired director from the food service industry and a 1948 graduate of St. Clairsville High School. Bertha had a caring and gentle nature. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Darrell Snider, Russell and Fred Britton, Earl Pattison. Bertha is survived by her daughters, Barbara L. Pickering of Holloway, Ohio, Paulette E. Sweet of Flint, Michigan; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Norma Russell of Kansas; and brothers, Paul Gordon of Wisconsin, Jack Gordon of Barnesville, Ohio, and Dan Gordon of Columbus, Ohio. Honoring Bertha's wishes, there will be no visitation and a graveside service will be conducted at a later date at Union Cemetery in St. Clairsville, Ohio.
