Bertha V. Smith 88, of Martins Ferry died Saturday January 20, 2018 at her home. She was born December 7, 1929 in Wheeling, a daughter of the late Kenneth Lee Sr. and Hazel Mae (Carpenter) Wines Burris.

She was a member of The Family Life Ministry Center Assembly of God Church in Bridgeport, and a retired LPN for Good Shepard Nursing Home Wheeling for 35 years.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Floyd Thomas Smith in 1992, her children James Curtis Smith, Gary Lee Smith and Beverly Lasure, her siblings Kenny, Paul Burris, Eugene, Roger Wines, and Hazel Brown.

She will be sadly missed by her children Tom (Anita) Smith of Pickerington, John Wayne Smith of Palmdale Ca. Ron (Jennie) Smith of Lancaster, Ca, Gregory Smith of Martins Ferry, and Darla (Charles) Palen of Bellaire, her siblings Doris (Henry) Seevers of Tiltonsville, Gladys West of Canal Winchester, Sandy Gilmore of Barnesville, Katherine Lucas of Bethesda, and Donald Burris of Indianapolis, IN a sister-in-law Eleanor "Jane" Littleton of Bellaire, 11 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and 2 great- great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Wilson Funeral Home 920 National Road Brookside on Thursday January 25, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm and then on Friday from 9 am till time of service at 11 am with Rev. Roland Boggs and Rev. Leonard Payne officiating, interment in Davis Cemetery Bellaire.
