Bessie E. (Ashton) Keenan, 91, of S. 3rd. St., Martins Ferry, OH died Thursday, May 15, 2008 at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry. She was born Oct. 5, 1916 in Martins Ferry a daughter of the late Harvey and Alice (Scott) Ashton. She was a life long member of the First Baptist Church, McDanel Missionary Group and the Garden Club all of Martins Ferry. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Roy Keenan, four brothers Henry, Harvey, Floyd and Jim Ashton, and three sisters Margaret Jones, Alice Chmiel, Edna Ashton. Surviving are two sons Roger (Nova) Keenan of St. Clairsville, OH and Vaughn (Becky) Keenan of Pendergrass, GA, three grandchildren Michele Elerick and David Keenan both of St. Clairsville, and Kristy Keenan of Zanesville, OH, four great grandchildren Daniel Elerick, Madison, Nathan and Caleb Keenan, and many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Sunday 12-3 & 6-8 pm at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH where services will be held Monday, May 19, 2008 at 11:00 am with John Oliver officiating. Burial follows in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, OH. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, 306 Locust St., Martins Ferry, OH 43935.
