Bettie Lou (Metcalfe) Santonas, 89, of Morgantown, WV, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 22, 2016. She was born August 29, 1926 in Pittsburgh, PA a daughter of the late Samuel and Margaret (Bruney) Metcalfe. Raised in Martins Ferry, OH, Bettie Lou was a devoted wife and mother with unwavering love for her family, whom she raised in Moundsville and Morgantown, WV. She was a dedicated friend, who stayed in close contact with a large group of childhood friends throughout her life. She formerly worked at Fostoria Glass Co. in Moundsville, where she met many friends and had an avid social life. She enjoyed cooking, reading, weekend lunches out with family and friends, and watching her children and grandchildren grow up. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Alexa Marie and brother, William Samuel Metcalfe. Surviving are her loving husband of 69 years, William Santonas, three beloved children, Cathy and husband Jim Suter of Glen Dale, WV, Mary Lou and husband Steve Morris of Morgantown and David and wife Cindy(Fox) of Glen Dale. She also leaves behind five grandchildren, two great grandchildren (with another on the way), and many nieces and nephews. She will be profoundly missed by all. Family and friends will be received at the Heslop Funeral Home, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, OH, Saturday, January 30, 2016 from 12 p.m. until time of services at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Tom N. Thomas officiating. Burial follows in Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to, St. Jude's Children Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
