Betty M. Kelly, 82, of Madison St., Martins Ferry, OH died Sunday, Apr. 12, 2009 at Valley Hospice Palliative Care, Steubenville, OH. She was born Oct. 28, 1926 in Martins Ferry, OH a daughter of the late Thomas and Lizzie (Parker) Kelly. She retired as the housekeeper for the late Senator Hubbard of Wheeling. Betty was a member of the Mackey Community Center where she enjoyed Tuesday night bingo and also was Secretary/Treasurer of TOPS both of Martins Ferry. She had a lifetime involvement to the Girl Scouts helping with their annual cookie sales and acting as their representative at the Ohio State Fair. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three sisters Mary Belle Spencer, Clara Bunner, and Emma Palmer, two nephews Thomas Bunner and Ricky Simmons, a niece Elizabeth Simmons, two brothers-in-law Thomas Bunner and Edward Hall, and her best friend Henry Kuhn. Surviving are five nieces Mary Ann Hall (with whom she resided), Susan (Harry) Surgen, Betty Gail Turner, Mary Jo Longwell, and Donna (Gerald) Yoho, a nephew Gary (Beverly) Palmer, a brother-in-law Carl Palmer, and her dog Sydney. Friends will be received Wednesday, 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH where services will be held Thursday, April 16, 2009 at 11:00 am with Rev. Dr. John F. Helgeson officiating. Burial follows in Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry. Memorial contributions may be made to Valley Hospice, Inc., 10686 Ste. Rte. 150, Rayland, OH 43943.
