Betty L. Shepherd Whitace, 76, of Barnesville, Ohio died Friday, December 9, 2011 at her home. She was born December 22, 1934, in Morristown, Ohio, daughter of the late Joseph H. and Virginia Taylor Shepherd. She was a member of Morristown Christian Church, a graduate of Barnesville High School, and a long time employee of Ohio Bell. Betty was a loving mother, adoring grandmother, and an inspiration to many. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Whitacre, Jr.; infant son, Shawn, two brothers, L. Kirk and Joseph N. Shepherd; and five sisters, Ruth Wirth, Ethel Peterson Brainard, Joann Abrams, Peggy Phillips and Belva DeBolt. Surviving are her four children, Steve (Mary) Whitacre, Scott Whitacre, Sam (Lisa) Whitacre all of Barnesville, and Susan (Robert) Spencer of Washington, PA; two sisers, Mary Eunice Taylor of St. Clairsville and Barb Shepherd of Morristown; sister-in-law, Sallie Shepherd of Marietta, OH; brother-in-law, Robert (Joan) Phillips of Center, OH; six grandchildren,Joseph and Jessica Whitacre, Shawn, Ryan, Tyler and Jacob Carpenter; two step grandchilden,Karisa Lewis and Kasandra Spencer; three great-grandchildren, Alexis Wade, Jacob and Taylor Whitacre; many nieces and nephews; and several special lifelong friends and neighbors. Family and friends may call, Tuesday 2 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., and 10 a.m. until time of service 11 a.m. Wednesday, at Kelly-Kemp-Braido Funeral Home, 322 North Main Street, Bethesda, Ohio.
