Obituary

Betty Lou (Wilkinson) Leech, 99, of Wheeling Island, passed away Monday, August 7, 2023, in Good Shepherd Nursing Home.  She was born on February 7, 1924, in Wheeling, a daughter of the late James Harold and Mary Lillian (Dailer) Wilkinson.  Betty was a member of the Island Christian Church, Disciple of Christ, Wheeling;  Past High Priestess, Isis Court #1; Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America; Past Worthy High Priestess, Holy City Shrine #1; Order of the White Shrine of Jerusaal; Past Royal Matron Fort Henry #8; Order of the Amaranth; Miriam Chapter #1; Order of the Eastern Star; Wardah Husam Temple #53; Daughters of the Nile; Island Garden Club; Christian Woman Fellowship of the Island Christian Church; Elder of the Island Christian Church; Units and Clubs of Isis Court #1; LOSNA; and a Life member of the PTA.

She is survived by two daughters, Mary Kay Harman and Judy (Michael) Braden; a brother, James "Wilkie" Wilkinson; seven grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Daniel Leech Jr., in 2005; a son, Robert Leech; four brothers, Craig H., John O., Ralph W., and James O. "Sonny" Wilkinson; and two sisters, Lila Lee Blankenship and Suzanne Quinn.

Friends may call Sunday from 2-6 pm in the Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Rd., Brookside.  Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 am in the funeral home, officiated by Reverend Craig Blankenship, Miriam Chapter #1 of the Eastern Star will conduct services at 12 noon at the Cemetery.  Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Shriners Hospitals Childrens Hospital, Paid to Isis Court No. 1, LOSNA, C/O Janic Price PHP, 801 North 8th Ave., Paden City, WV 26159..
