Beulah D. (Schafer) James, 96, of Martins Ferry, OH died Saturday, Apr. 23, 2011 at East Ohio Regional Hospital Long Term Care, Martins Ferry. She was born Feb. 14, 1915 in Wheeling, WV a daughter of the late Harry F. Schafer, Sr. and Elizabeth (Hennes) Schafer. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Martins Ferry where she was a member of the Choir. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Forrest F. James, two brothers Robert and Harry F. Schafer, Jr. and three sisters Velma Kelsey, Mildred Greer, and Elizabeth Troy. Surviving are her daughter Pam (Gary) Patterson of Martins Ferry, a son Bruce James of Kingstree, SC, a sister Sue Schafer of Martins Ferry, six grandchildren Kim Carman, Melissa Morales, Gary, Bruce, and Roby Patterson, and Bruce James, Jr., and six great grandchildren. Friends will be received Wednesday 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Thursday, Apr. 28, 2011 at 11:00 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Martins Ferry with Rev. Tom Marut officiating. Burial follows in Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry. Rosary devotions will be recited Wednesday at 3:00 pm in the funeral home.
