Billy Jack
Powell
December 29, 2002 – February 10, 2024
Billy Jack Powell, 21, passed away unexpectedly on February 10, 2024, in Cameron, West Virginia. He was born on December 29, 2002, to Roseanna (Robert) Phares and David (Erica) Powell. He is the brother of Austin (Briston Ramby) Powell, Hailey Phares, and Taylor Powell.
Billy was a skilled craftsman. His love of working with his hands and getting dirty lead him to be a jack of all trades but master to none. He enjoyed being a machinist, carpenter, welder, electrician, mechanic, and plumber to name a few. He was employed by Continental as a welder. He was able to continue his adventurous, thrill-seeking lifestyle through his job.
Billy's adventurous and free spirit led him to enjoy the outdoors. He could be found riding, helping others, or just hanging out. He never knew a stranger, as he was known to just show up and lend a helping hand. He was a member of the Sherrard Volunteer Fire Department.
He held a special place in his heart for his grandparents, Debbie and Marvin Del Re. He and Austin spent countless hours at their home teasing and driving them crazy. His love for his family and friends were instilled at an early age. He made a point to always help anyone with whatever he could, never second-guessing his decision.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Barbara Turner, David Shearer, great-grandmother, Joan Shearer, maternal great-grandparents, Nicholas Renzella, Sr, Arlie and George Del Re and uncle, Joesph Giovengo.
Billy leaves behind his great-grandfather, Bill Shearer, great- grandmother, Patricia Renzella, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and his faithful companion Pepper Jane.
A stubborn force to be reckoned with, an unrelenting advocate for being who you are and doing what you love. Loud, funny, intelligent... there is so much more that should be said, but in the end what he did was make our world brighter. We love and miss you, Billy.
His family will receive friends on Monday, February 19th from 2-8 pm at Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Road, Bridgeport, Ohio. Tuesday, February 20th, at noon, mass will be held at St. James Catholic Church, 360 Logan Street, McMechen, West Virginia.
