Bobby Allen Stephen, 85, of St. Clairsville, Ohio, formerly of Ozark, Ohio, died Monday April 29, 2024 at Forest Hill Care Center in St. Clairsville, Ohio. He was born August 29, 1938 in the community of Boston, Ohio (Belmont County), a son of the late Welda and Edna Huntsman Stephen.
Bobby was a member of the former Ozark Church of Christ and he was a retired employee of the North American Coal Corporation #1 Mine, Powhatan Point, Ohio. He was most recently employed by Kontogiannis Terrace Apartments, St. Clairsville, Ohio. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, going on long walks, going on cruises, and trips to Wheeling Downs. Spending time with family and friends was his favorite pastime. Bobby will be remembered by many as a softball coach for both boy's and girl's teams throughout the area.
In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred E. "Millie" Phillips Stephen on March 15, 2010, also by an infant son, Larry Allen Stephen; nine siblings, Elmer Stephen, Girdon Stephen, Kelly Stephen, Reuben Stephen, Martha Eddy, Hazel Jackson, Glenda Betts, Eileen Wehr and Betsy Stephen. Left to cherish his memory are five children, Cindy Lynn (Frank Taylor) of Barnesville, Ohio, Robert (Aleta) Stephen of Uniontown, Pennsylvania, Brenda Keevert of St. Clairsville, Ohio, Sherry (Ralph) West of Baltimore, Ohio, Rusty (Diana) Stephen of Beallsville, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Bonnie (Dick) Giehl of Ocean Island, North Carolina; a brother-in-law, Lee (Becky) Phillips of Beallsville, Ohio; grandchildren, Chris (Lori) Lynn, Tim (Amy) Lynn, Zachary (Lauren) Stephen, Ryan Stephen (Dawn), Weston Keevert (Brandi), Amanda Harden, David West (Jennifer) and Jessica (Kayston) Weaver, 17 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Family and friends will be received Friday, May 3 from 5pm to 8pm at the Wilson Funeral Home - Harper Chapel, Beallsville, Ohio where funeral services will be held Saturday, May 4 at 1pm with Pastor Kyle Cox offering words of comfort.
Burial will follow in Somerton Southern Cemetery, Somerton, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers and keepsakes, memorial contributions may be made to Liza's Place, c/o Valley Hospice, 10686 OH 150, Rayland, Ohio 43943 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
