Obituary

CARL V. THOMPSON, 86, of Martins Ferry, died Monday, September 22, 2008 at Sunset Health Care in Adena. He was born June 24, 1922 in Cadiz, the son of the late Carl and Edith Thompson. Carl retired from Quinn Construction in St. Clairsville and was a member of the Operating Engineers Union Local #132 in West Virginia. He was a veteran of the United States Army during WWII. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Mary ""Garnell"" Thompson; a son Danny Joe Thompson; three brothers Glenn, Cloyd and Melvin Thompson and a sister Vivian Thompson. Carl is survived by a son Russell and his wife Sharon of Kissimmee, FL; a daughter Carla Wilson and her husband Dale of Colerain; two brothers Marion of Kissimmee, FL and Chester of Cadiz; two sisters Lois Thompson and Dorothy Baird both of Cadiz; five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Visitation will be Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Rd., Brookside, where funeral services will be held Thursday at 10 am with Father Dale Tornes officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove. Full military services will be conducted by the Belmont County Council of the American Legion.
