With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Carol Ann Schwanenberger on Sunday, May 24, 2026. She was born on February 11, 1951, to the late James and Virginia (Gibson) Conway of Martins Ferry, Ohio. She left the world surrounded by the love of her family and friends. She was a devoted wife of over 50 years to James Schwanenberger. She was a caring mother to Thomas and Chris (Chris Ann) Schwanenberger. Carol was a proud grandmother to Austin (Ashliegh), Aj, and Cj Schwanenberger. She will be missed by her brother, James G. (Barbara) Conway, and sister-in-law, Barbara Schneider.
Carol’s kindness and warmth touched everyone who knew her. She shared over 50 years with her husband, Jim building a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
She was known for her outgoing spirit, her love of traveling with friends and the joy she found in spending time with people she cared most about. Her generous heart made her a treasured friend to many. She worked after her boys were older at Ponderosa Steakhouse and later at Circuit City. She never met a stranger and always welcomed others with kindness and compassion. Carol enjoyed her weekly trips to Wheeling Downs and try her luck at the slot machine.
Above all her family was her greatest pride and joy. She will be deeply missed by her family and countless friends whose lives she brightened through the years.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, May 29, 2026, from 11 till time of service at 1:30pm at Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Rd., Bridgeport, OH 43912. Burial to follow at Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry, with Rev. James Hoff officiating.
