Thompson, Carol Ann, 74, of Martins Ferry, Ohio died November 13, 2011 at Liza's Place. She was born July 8, 1937 in Wheeling, W. Va.. Carol was raised in Bridgeport and graduated from Bridgeport High School, and was the daughter of the late George and Gertrude Idahl. Carol also lived on Boggs Run Road in Benwood , W. Va. for over 30 years, and was a longtime member of The Boggs Run Volunteer Fire Department. She was a secretary for Shulick Taylor Company and also worked as a home health care nurses aid for 11 years. In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her son, Robert Kirk Thompson. Surviving are her husband William and three sons, William and wife Thoma Thompson of Shadyside, Ohio, Scott and wife Lei Thompson of Kailua Kona, Hawaii, Darrin and wife Joell Thompson of Dillonvale, Ohio, one sister Peggy, and husband Chuck Foose of Bridgeport, Ohio, sixteen grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at The Community Of Christ Church, 56060 High Ridge Road, Bellaire, Ohio, on Saturday, December 3 at 11:30 am. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Valley Hospice, 10686 State Route 150, Rayland, Ohio, 43943, or to the Marshall County Animal Shelter in Moundsville, W. Va.
