Carole J. Doty Carroll Archer, 72, of Martins Ferry, OH died March 31, 2019 at Liza's Place in Wheeling.  She was born December 19, 1946, in Kenton, OH, a daughter of the late Russell E. and Frances (Wentz) Smith.  Carole was the former owner of Mom and Tots in Martins Ferry, and worked at J.C. Penney and Boscov's Department Stores.  She was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church where she was a Deacon, Elder, and a Session Member.  In addition to her parents, Carole was preceded in death by her husbands, Vernon "Jim" Doty, and John Carroll.  She is survived by her husband, Robert Archer; children, Carrie Ann (Matt) Smith of Tiltonsville, OH, James (Andrea) Doty of Guangzhou, China; brother, George (Lynne) Smith of Dublin, OH; sisters, Marilyn (Tom) Beaman of MI, Roberta (Denny) Pergram of Columbus; and grandchildren, Jamie, Cara, Dennis Boggs, and Melissa Smith.  Friends will be received Wednesday, April 3rd from 2-4p.m. and 6-8p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Rd. Bridgeport, OH 43912.  An Elder Service will be held at 7pm.  Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 4th at 11a.m. at Grace Presbyterian Church, Martins Ferry with Reverend William Webster officiating.  Interment to follow at Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Carole's name to Grace Presbyterian Church, 7 N. 4th St. Martins Ferry, OH 43935.  To offer online condolences visit wilsonfuneralhomes.com.
