Carolyn L. "Carol" Bender, 55, formerly of Martins Ferry, OH died Sunday, Feb. 26, 2006 at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry. She was born July 28, 1950 in Martins Ferry a daughter of the late William and Eleanor (Varner) Bender. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Martins Ferry. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister Shirley Bender. Surviving are four sisters Barbara Heath of Mingo Junction, OH, Rose (Gary) Pugh of Martins Ferry, Helen (William) Conaway of Bridgeport, and Penny Finsley of Shadyside, three brothers William H. (Gayle) Bender, Stanley Bender, and Robert (Trish) Bender all of Martins Ferry, a godson B. J. Conaway, and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, OH where services will be held Wed., March 1, 2006 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Thomas N. Thomas officiating. Burial follows in Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry.
