Carolyn graduated from Lewisville High School in 1958. She married Everett C. Pittman on Dec. 19, 1959. They lived in Ohio, West Virginia, Kentucky, and Tennessee before retiring together in Monroe Co. Ohio. The couple shared a loving marriage of 63 years together.

Carolyn was survived by her husband, Everett, daughter Deborah (William) McDonald of Sweetwater, TN; her daughter Joyce (William) Hinson of Virginia Beach, VA. Her grandchildren Adam (Tracy) McDonald, Ashley (Tony) Carrol, Chris (Jessica) Hinson, Stephanie (Dylan) Wheeler. Carolyn is survived by seven great-grandchildren who adored her. She is also survived by a sister Linda (George) Larrick of Cambridge, OH.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Marf and Edith Hettig, her three brothers Paul, John, and Byron Hettig and two sisters, Mary Hettig and Donna Packard.

Carolyn was an accomplished cook and baker. After "retiring" to Monroe County, Carolyn is best known for her wonderful pies, which were enjoyed by the community. Carolyn's hospitality knew no bounds. She and her husband Everett enjoyed hosting missionary families for East Sunsbury Baptist Church, of which she was a dedicated member. She loved her church family and enjoyed cooking Sunday dinners for her brothers and sisters in Christ. While attending Reimer Road Baptist Church, in the early 1970's, Carolyn loved being a Sunday School teacher and sharing God's word with little ones. Carolyn's most coveted wish was to see her family follow Christ and she set an example by the way she lived daily.
