Catherine M. (Newland) Cook, 94, formerly of Tampa, Fl and Martins Ferry, OH went to live with the Lord on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at Ocala Regional Medical Center, Ocala, FL. She was born July 2, 1922 in Martins Ferry, a daughter of the late Lawrence A. and Bertha M. (Rinderer) Newland.

She volunteered her time to others for most of her life serving as chairman for the Martins Ferry Hospital Women's Auxiliary and for many bridge clubs. She spent many years playing golf in Ohio and Florida and even scored two holes-in-one at the Babe Zaharias Golf Course in Tampa, FL. She enjoyed listening to music, playing the piano, cooking, traveling, sunbathing, biking, watching football and golf, reading and solving crossword and word search puzzles.

Surviving are her children; Robert L. "Bob" (Joyce) Cook, Jr. of Eva, AL, Donald L. "Don" (Lori) Cook of St. Clairsville, OH and Sherelyn S. "Sherry" (Michael) Savage, of Ocala, FL, ten grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

Her twinkling eyes, contagious smile, sense of humor, and endless devotion to her family and close friends will be greatly missed.

Family and friends will be received Saturday, June 3, 2017 from 10 a.m. until time of a Celebration of Life at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. David Stammerjohn officiating. Burial follows at Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Catherine's memory to the American Heart Association.
