Catherine Schaal, 79, of St. Clairsville, went home to the to be with her Lord on Saturday Dec. 6, 2008 at the Valley Hospice Center at Trinity East in Steubenville surrounded by her family. Catherine was born July 24, 1929 at Bridgeport the daughter of the late John and Catherine Sommers Winzenreid. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son Lon Schaal, a sister Helen Knapp, a brother Paul Winzenreid. She is survived by her husband Ralph of 56 years, a daughter Amy and her husband Robert Moberger and 3 grandsons; Jack, Ty and Chad all of Dublin, OH; two sisters Wilma Banfield of Washington, PA. and Ruth Jenkins of Colerain; 7 nieces and 6 nephews. Catherine graduated from Bridgeport High School in 1947, She was a devoted wife, loving mother and exceptional homemaker loving to cook and host large family gatherings. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, loved singing in the choir where she was a soloist for many occasions. Friends will be received at the Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Road, Brookside on Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm. Friends will be received on Tuesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church from 10 until time of service at 11 am. Entombment to follow at Holly Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
