Cathryn M. "Peg" (McDiffitt) Sykes, 84, formerly of Rayland, OH, died Monday, Oct. 6, 2014 at East Ohio Regional Hospital Long Term Care, Martins Ferry, OH. She was born Oct. 28, 1929 in Martins Ferry a daughter of the late William A. and Florence E. (Allen) McDiffitt. She was a member of Apostolic Pentecostal Church of Pleasant Grove, OH. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Stuart S. Sykes, daughter, Debbie L. Sykes and brothers; William F. and Charles E. McDiffitt. Surviving are her sister, Lula Mae Wozniak of Martins Ferry, nephews; David McDiffitt and Frank Wozniak and nieces; Thelma Evans and Karen Kidney. Family and friends will be received Tuesday 6-8 pm at the Heslop Funeral Home, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, OH. Friends will then be received Wednesday, October 8, 2014 from 11:00 am until time of services at 1:00 pm at the Apostolic Pentecostal Church, Pleasant Grove with Pastor Dan Nelson officiating assisted by Bertha Crane.
