Obituary

Charles "Charlie" L. Hathaway, 69, of Martins Ferry, OH, died Monday, Jan. 13, 2013 at Liza's Place, Valley Hospice Care Center South, Wheeling, WV. He was born Sept. 11, 1943 in Martins Ferry, a son of the late Gerald W. and Elinor E. (Bennett) Hathaway. Charlie grew up in Barton, OH. He retired from the Mingo Junction Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel. Charlie was a member of American Legion Post #38, Redman Club, Italian-American Club and Polish National Alliance all of Martins Ferry. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Bonnie S. (Burns) Hathaway, two daughters; Darlene (Spencer) Ramsey and Dawn (Mike) Busic both of Martins Ferry, a brother, David Hathaway of Bridgeport, OH, a sister, Dianna Ullom of Lakeland, FL, a grandson, Hunter Ramsey, nephews Steven and Jim Ullom, a niece, Lynn Kelley, several cousins and his beloved cat, "Blackie". Friends will be received Wednesday 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at the Heslop Funeral Home, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, OH where services will be held, Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. David Stammerjohn officiating. Burial follows in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, OH. Military honors will be presented by the Belmont County Council of the American Legion at 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the funeral.
