Obituary

Charles E. "Mick" Haught, 88, of Martins Ferry, OH died Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012 at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry. He was born June 7, 1923 in Martins Ferry a son of the late John H. and Blanche (Knowlton) Haught. He retired after 42 years from the Martins Ferry Plant of Wheeling Pittsburgh-Steel. Charles was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp. WWII stationed in England for 16 months. He worked from the time he was a boy to help out his parents and siblings. At the age of 14 he went to Idaho to work on a farm so he could send his earnings back to his family. He was a loving father and grandfather who loved to fish and hunt and cheer on the OSU Buckeyes and Pittsburgh Steelers. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife; Selma M. (McConnaughy) Haught, son-in-law; George Orend, daughter-in-law; Kaye Haught and sisters; Gladys Turvey, Bertha M. Haught, Iva Semelvis and Inez Hayman and a brother; Harry Haught. Surviving are his two sons; Jeff Haught & long time companion Sherry Nagy both of Martins Ferry and Jack Haught of Friendly, WV, two daughters; Janice Brown of Lynchburg, VA and Brenda Orend of Martins Ferry, grandchildren; Stacy Wade and Terry (Heather) Brown all of Virginia, Lisa (Steve) Chirpas of New Mexico, Eric Orend of Martins Ferry and Jack and Michael Haught, great grandchildren; Brianna and Jewell Chirpas, Brooke Pope, Bragan & Devin Wade, Brendon Landon and Camden Brown and sister-in-law; Agnes McCohnaughy Friends will be received Tuesday, 6-8 pm at the Heslop Funeral Home, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, OH where services will be held Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at 11 am with Rev. Larry W. Lewis officiating. Burial follows in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, OH. Condolences to the family may be made by signing the guest book at the top of this page.
