Charles Joseph (Chuck) Link, 85, passed away on April 6, 2012, surrounded by his loving wife of 55 years and members of his family. He was born on June 24, 1926 in Bridgeport, Ohio to Frederick and Beatrice (Riley) Link. Chuck was a World War II veteran having served in France and Italy and a retired Weirton Steel rigger. A man of strong faith, he was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Bridgeport Knights of Columbus and a 4th Degree Knight of theCommodore Jack Barry Assembly. In addition to his parents, he waspreceded in death by his siblings, Fred Jr., John, Mary Evelyn (Knapp), Dennis and twin brother James. He is survived by his wife and love of his life, Patricia (Smith) Link, whom he married on May 26, 1956 and his seven children: Dr. Cynthia Link (Joe) Weinstein, Dr. Charles Jr. (Julia), Todd, Deborah Link (Darren) Smith, Michelle Link (Tom) Smith, Patricia Link (Jim) Owen and Jennifer Link (Shawn)Byers. Perhaps Chuck's proudest accomplishment was his 24 grandchildren who brought him joy and carry on his legacy: Debbie (Weinstein) and Andrew Rook, Mike Weinstein and Lori Weinstein; Rebekah Link and Charles J. Link III; Benjamin and Jenna (Anderson), Megan, Margaret and Bryce Link; Matthew, Anthony, Maria, Catrina, Isaac and Adelena Smith; Paige and Morgan Owen; and Patrick, Daniel, Brian, Anna and Adam Byers. Chuck spent his life committed to volunteering in many different organizations. Co-founder of Belmont County Right to Life he was dedicated to overturning Roe v. Wade. He also volunteered with NAMI:National Alliance on Mental Illness was a member of the Bridgeport American Legion and Bridgeport Eagles. He had great passion for Catholic education and was an avid Notre Dame fan. A man of great heart, he was never known to see someone in need and not stop to help. Calling hours will be held Monday, April 9 at 6-8 pm and Tuesday, April 10 at 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Road, Bridgeport. A funeral mass with Liturgy will be held on Wednesday, April 11 at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Bridgeport, with Fr. John Mucha officiating.
