Charles Wilson, 90, of Barnesville, Ohio, died Monday, June 6, 2016 at Emerald Pointe Nursing and Rehab. He was born September 1, 1925 in Barnesville, Ohio, son of the late Francis Wilson and Elizabeth Lynn Wilson.
Held in high regard, Charles was a great influence in the lives of his family and many others, as a Christian, husband, father, and grandfather. A faithful servant to the Lord, Charles was the oldest living Elder Emeritus, served on many mission trips, was a Sunday School teacher, youth leader, served on BAMA, and was involved with prison ministry. Charles was an avid sports fan and was a World War II Army Veteran, awarded with The Bronze Star.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 47 years, Bonnie J. McCleary Wilson; infant daughter, Susan Wilson, and sisters, Jackie Jamiel and Rosalie Strahl.
Charles is survived by his wife of 23 years, Mary A. Wilson of Zanesville, Ohio; daughters, Melissa A. (David) Crum , Betsy L. (Tom) Welch all of Barnesville, Ohio, Cathy S. (George) Bishop of Quaker City, Ohio; sons, Don (Diane) Wilson of Cambridge, Ohio, Timothy L. Wilson of Newcomerstown, Ohio, Mark E. (Tanya) Wilson of Barnesville, Ohio; 14 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; step-daughters, Doreen (Mike) Maurer, Martha (Ben) Kennedy, Rosemary Davis all of Zanesville, Ohio; step-sons, Robert S. (Lori) Davis of Adamsville, Ohio, Richard Harlan of Zanesville, Ohio; 12 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Family and friends are welcome to visit, Friday from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m., until the time of service, beginning at 11 a.m., First Christian Church of Barnesville, 219 W. Church Street, Barnesville, Ohio. Pastors Ed Eberhart, Matt Wilson, and Larry Jellison officiating. Interment will follow at Crestview Cemetery, Barnesville, Ohio, where Military Honors will be presented.
