Obituary

Clarence "Doc" Saffell, 87, of Belmont, Ohio died on June 9, 2015 at Cumberland Pointe Care Center. He was born May 19, 1928 in Belmont County, Ohio, son of the late Clarence and Alice Morgan Saffell. Doc was a man of many talents. He was a farmer, coal miner, and superintendent for Sutton and Stewart Construction Company for 30 years. He loved to work on clocks and steam engines, as a hobby and traveled to many of our wonderful states. He had a very special friend, Eileen Wise. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Doris L. Clay Saffell and second wife, Joyce Patterson Saffell; sister, Virginia Saffell Van Dyne, and brother, John H. Saffell. Surviving is his daughter, Janice K. (Dan) Conley of Belmont, Ohio; grandson, Arick D. (Laura) Conley; great-grandsons, Kyle and Keith Conley, and great-granddaughter, Katie Conley all of Gaithersburg, Maryland; sisters, Lois Bugay of Flushing, Ohio and Carolyn Fraley of Johnstown, Ohio. A Graveside Service will be conducted at Holly Memorial Gardens, 73360 Pleasant Grove, Colerain Ohio, with Reverend Wayne Ickes officiating, on Saturday, June 13th at 11:00 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to: East Richland Friends Church, 67885 Friends Church Road, St. Clairsville, Ohio 43950.
