Cledis J. "Joe" Dalton 75, of Martins Ferry passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at Jefferson Allegheny Hospital in Jefferson, PA, surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 15, 1949, in Martins Ferry, a son of the late Cledis Dalton and Esther (Clyde) Inman.
Joe was a retired employee of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Martins Ferry Plant, and the Belmont County Auditor's Office, he was a Veteran in the US Army and a member of the Martins Ferry American Legion Post #38, he was an Honorary Member of the Liberty Fire Department, and an EMS Driver. Joe was involved in the Youth Sports program for 25 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Edward Dalton.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 40 years Fran (St Clair) Dalton children Adam (Heather) Shapaka of New Philadelphia, Robert (Rhonda) Dalton of Zanesville, and Holly (Sue) Dalton of Martins Ferry, nine grandchildren Carter (Tae) Shapaka, Mackenze Baker, Meara Shapaka, Madison Baker, Ruthie Dalton, Reyna Dalton, Rylan Dalton, and RJ Dalton, one great grandson Maxwell Shapaka, and his furry friend "Gizmo".
Friends will be received at the Wilson Funeral Home 920 National Road Brookside on Friday January 31, 2025, from 2-4 and 5-8 pm. Fire Department services will be conducted at 6 pm at the Funeral Home.
There will be a celebration of Joe's life on Saturday February 1, 2015, from 12 noon till 3 pm at the Liberty Fire Department 5th and Center St. Martins Ferry, Ohio.
